NOT MY DOOR, NOT EVEN MY CITY - BUT IT CAUGHT MY EYE RECENTLY

So good this morning to sit in the sunshine with a lovely couple and listen to their story of life, salvation and GOD at work in their family.

… as intricate as the lacework on this veranda, and as miraculous as the sunlight filtering onto the threshold and step of this pretty little home - so also is the way God works in our lives.

SALVATION comes to all of us layer upon layer: a conversation here; an encounter there. A sign or image that catches your attention and somehow speaks to your seeking heart. And then ultimately, for most, a tangible, felt “invitation” is extended that takes you by the hand and leads you into a world beyond your wildest imagination.

So.

I love THE HOUSE OF GOD. Always have, always will.

I love the MIRACLE OF INVITATION. Everything in life is an invitation. An invitation to enter; step forward; step up. God extends invitation because He has endowed us with choice. Choice to decide for life over death; light over darkness; Eden over chaos.

And I love the metaphor and imagery of THRESHOLD. Why. Because I still remember, as a 15year old, entering the Presence of God. I remember stepping from the cold into the warmth. I remember Someone knocking on the door of my heart. I remember my understanding being flooded with Light. I remember feeling like I had come home. Thats why #welcomehome for me is bathed in revelation.

SALVATION IS NO SMALL THING.

Jesus stands at the door and knocks and extends invitation after invitation after invitation to come sup with Him. Now aint that the grandest thing ever on a glorious Sunday afternoon. Revelation 3:20 which records the revelation and unveiling of Christ records it for all of time and eternity:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me.” — Jesus
